Jaw Correction Surgery and Braces

When the problem the patient presents with cannot be corrected with orthodontic treatment alone then “jaw” surgery may be indicated. The surgery may be indicated for a jaw that is too small, too large, too forward, too backward, too up, too down or distorted. Should this be your problem, your certified orthodontist will work in conjunction with a maxillo-facial surgeon. The orthodontist usually begins preparing the mouth with braces prior to surgery. The total treatment time will depend upon the extent of the problem and can be from one to three years.

If you feel you may benefit from such a treatment contact your certified orthodontist for a consultation.
